hi i don"t know if there"s a was to fix this or not i just got a 1946 john deere b the crankshaft is wore where the clutch pulley mounts so the clutch is not working right is there a way to fix this without changing the crankshaft any help would be appreciated thanks

Some guys are good at adding shims. New driver will help but some times not. If terribly bad, then the crank would have to come out and machined.

I fixed mine with JB Weld. Just clean the crank and driver spline real good with brake clean and put a little JB Weld on the crank and on the driver splines. Not to much to make a mess. Then slide the driver into place and let the JB Weld harden. I work my "B" and it works fine. If the time comes to remove the driver just heat it with a torch and it will come right off.

I have no investment or connection with this add in any way:

The cost of a telephone call is nothing:

I would say that a quick fix is of no value. Now having said that I think you will find that the crack throws will also be out of round. If it were me I would find another good crank and replace. I wouldn't spend a ton at a machine shop. A better repair would be to weld the end of the shaft...build up and then grind back down with a flat file and recut the groves. You can use the engine running as a lathe....don't do a lot of welding at a time.
