How do I get this belt pulley off shaft?

There is nothing to grab onto on the center hub.
The pressed cardboard pulley only has a thin metal plate on the front and rear which I dont want to pound on.
I'm unfamiliar with this type and cant figure out how to use a puller to pull it off the shaft.
This hercules engine was on a JD thresher.
Any ideas guys??

It looks like there is a set screw on the square boss that will press on the key. If you have it out already turn it upward, put some penetrant in the hole and leave it soak for a while. Bang on the hub with a drift once in a while or apply heat to the hub. Have patience.

Yes there were 2 set screws set at 90 degrees apart but those are out.
Ive torched the hub and there is still no movement.
I can drill and then tap into the end of the key and maybe use a slide hammer to pull the key but the pulley will most likely be still frozen on the shaft.
How the heck did the manufacturers plan on removing these things if they had to?
I'm hoping to avoid having to drill and tap into the hub face to pull it.
Thanks

What if removed the whole bell housing cover from the motor? Perhaps you could then get the pulley and the shaft out, then take it to a press and block behind the pulley to press the shaft out?

First I would soak the set screw holes with penetrant for several days. Then weld 3 section of flat bar to make a triangle on back side of pulley. Then get a large 3 jaw puller. remove the zerk in the shaft and use the puller to pull the hub off the shaft. Make sure to clean the face of the hub/shaft and remove any burrs on the key and hub which could interfere with the puller. Put moderate tension on puller and hit center screw with a brass hammer. Keep and eye on the shaft hub for slight movement.

No way to get the bell housing off with the pulley in the way...
May just drill and tap holes on the hub face and use a screw type puller.

You probably mean JD combine instead of thresher? Hercules was the engine brand on the 5A and 17 JD combines, probably lots more models.

I dont know but heat with a candle stuck to it will go places blaster wont. It might soak into the paper so you might want to make a catch for the wax that falls off. The wax might be bad for the grip of the paper.
