JD 2940 Utility

They still have some of the same hyd issues that a 2840 had. Not as bad as a 2840 but still some problems. The 50's were better and the 2955's seemed good. Neighbor had a 2840 that when cold everything worked great but when hot did not have enough hyd's to raise a six row planter. Traded on a 2940 a ran it a few years untill it got problems then bought a 2955. The engines were great except you need to keep good antifreeze in them as that series engine is one of Deere's worst for cavitation. Overhauled several 4030's because of water in the oil. Same engine family. If the hyd's are good you will probably like it. Tom
