I am mowing along just fine today. The mower came up on it's won, and will not go down . The lift lever does no good. The shaft turns where it enters the transmission. When I shut the tractor off the mower coasts down all the way. I don't need this at the start of my mowing season. Any help appreciated. Stan

Does it come up on it's own when you restart it?? have you moved the rate of drop screw under the seat,, an have you moved the load/depth lever on the right side of the seat?? Just a few basic things that can cause what you have happening...

My guess is either the cam(key 17) has come out of it's intended place in the 3 pt control mechanism or cam has broken OR spring(key 18) has broken.

You will probably need to lift the rockshaft to have a look at the controls linkage,,

Any special things to do while lifting the rock shaft housing off?
does it just come straight up? Anything going to fall off and drop inside. Stan

The load selector lever on the right side of the seat, is in the top hole, and will not move to a lower notch. It has not moved for a long time. Should this lever move freely up, and down? Stan

Yes L/D lever under seat should move freely. When raising RS cover nothing should drop out just be careful when setting RS cover back in place to get cam(key 17) in correct location in control linkage. Also be sure to replace quad ring(part # T17882) in RH frt side of trans case that seals high pressure oil leading to RS housing.
