HOW MANY 730LP WERE MADE IN 1958 I HAVE ONE. a post earlier didn't mention any but I know they made at least one. thank you

Got my books out about the 730lp and they do show there were 730lp tractors made in 1958. I was hoping I had the only one. Thank you and seems there were some 730 tractors made in 1961 as well.

I was gonna say, I think both of my 730LP's are '58's. That reminds me, I should record all my sn's and put them in a safe place...

Hi rick according to my jd almanac from mr.thinker (the green magazine) they were only 1959 and 1960. If you post serial number and standard,hi crop, or row crop I can get you more information

serial number 7303226 and they made lot of 730lp in 1958 I'm thinkin. This tractor came from Dyees, Arkansas. Email is open 7300000-1958 7303761-1959 73022075-1960 you tell me???

not buy my books. and serial numbers so I guess its a matter of opinion. If it was made in 1958 and the serial number match witch I have given it must be a 1958,

A lot of the books with serial numbers are wrong.john deeres production year didn't begin on jan 1 of the year. It's just like cars and trucks. You can buy the next years model in the fall of the previous year.Just because it was built in 1958 doesn't mean it's a 1958 model.

I'm agreeing to disagree with you. Back in the 50s they didn't do things like today. If so Id be a 1953 model not a 52. Guess the Russians did it. I don't believe they would skip an entire year. so you can call it a 59 and I will call it a 58.

According to the Two Cylinder 30 series production register the first 730 which was a row crop (7300001) was shipped 8-4-58. Yours (S/N 7303226) was shipped 10-22-58 to Memphis. The last one shipped in 58 was s/n 7306327 on 12-26-58.If all the serial numbers were used There was app 3220 730's built before yours and app 6300 built n the calendar year 58. Call it what ever year they want, it is still a 730.

Deere changed their calendar year in August or September back then so going by the date posted his 730 will be a 59.

All of the automobile company's did the same and still do. Folks tend to get wound up sometimes over it but it is what it is. I hear all the time about the 64 & 1/2 Mustangs. They weren't any. Sure they were built then but the title says 65.

There were no 61 730 models made. they shut the lines down early that year to make the switch to the 3010s and 4010s

Then what would the 730’s and 830’s be that were built after the New Generation tractors were introduced ?

Production register states otherwise . Some 730’s were built after new gen production. summer of 1960 . Prior to the line being shipped to Argentina which technically is not over seas .

(quoted from post at 20:19:23 05/08/18) whatever
Here is it straight from the JD Production Log . What do you think of this ?

June 1960, regular production of the 3010 & 4010 started
January 1960, 1089 Model 730’s built
June 1960 , 174 Model 730’s built
July 1960 ,127 Model 730’s built
December 1960, 446 Model 730’s built
January 1961 , 392 Model 730’s built
February 1961. , 371 Model 730’s built

(quoted from post at 07:27:50 05/09/18) My eyes are going bad looks like I see 1961 on there.

That is what is stated in the Producrion Log . You don’t have a production log of your own ?
Also looked at the serial number registry and it agrees with the production log .
