Had all this working fine- rebuilt Genny and set VR- was all working; pulled out of shed today to run around the farm and
noticed the "amp gauge" was in the middle - or "0"; Increased the throttle and nothing; put my light on the Genny while running
and the center and left post were hot on the rgulator; but at the battery my meter read 12.10 to 12.25 when running about 900
rpm...what the heck?

There will be power to the [b:654c4848f0]BAT[/b:654c4848f0] terminal on the voltage regulator whether running or not.

There will also be power to the [b:654c4848f0]L[/b:654c4848f0] terminal on the voltage regulator whether running or not.

You might consider checking the voltage of the battery before starting your tractor.

Then check the voltage of the battery while your tractor is running and compare both reading.

You might also consider using this method of testing the generator.

Remove the lead wire from the voltage regulator to the A - Armature terminal.

Remove the lead wire from the voltage regulator to the F - Field terminal.

Take a look at the photos below.

Attach one end of a jumper wire to the F - Field terminal and ground the other end of the jumper wire.

Start the tractor.

Using a voltmeter, attach the RED lead to the A - Armature and the BLACK lead to ground on the tractor.

The volt meter should display a voltage reading greater than the battery.

Hope this helps.

Here is my written troubleshooting procedure to find the cause of non charging. If you follow it step by step you can find the problem and see if its caused by the Genny or VR or elsewhere, no use in reinventing the wheel each time we get this question. Hope it helps if not post back any questions. Sure the belt is good n tight??
