I ordered a new JD MT ignition switch. There are a couple of terminals I am not sure of. Please let me know if I am wrong. The instructions aren't so good. Appreciate the help!

IGN - Ignition
BAT - Battery Terminal on cutout
FL - Generator Field Terminal
TL - ? Lights ?
HL - ?

Note the instruction sheet in your photo states that the ignition switch will work on a Model 40.

Take a look at the photo below of the same switch, as shown in your photo, installed in "BW" our Model 40T.

Note the blue wire from the IGN terminal on the ignition switch to the NEGATIVE terminal on the coil.

Note the wire with the 20amp inline fuse to the NEGATIVE post on the ammeter.

Pure speculation on my part, but you might consider connecting the green wire for the lights to the FL flood lights terminal on the ignition switch.

Pure speculation on my part, but you might consider connecting the white wire from the F field terminal on the generator to the HL head lights terminal on the resistor.

The original ignition switch for the MT is [b:654c4848f0]AM 357 T[/b:654c4848f0] if you decide to exchange switches.

Hope this helps.

Thank you James. The ad said it would work for my MT. While it may work, I'm not sure it would work correctly. I am uncertain where to connect the generator up to as well. Do you think it would be in my best interest to return and purchase the AM 357 T? It is more than twice what I paid for this part.

IF you have a voltage regulator use that switch and the wiring diagram for a 40. If you still have a cut out relay send it back and get the correct one. They advertise
them all over the internet as being interchangeable but they aren't if it's still origonal.

Yes.

The AM 357 T is designed for both the M and MT tractor.

The AM 357 T ignition switch has been installed in our M and all three of our MTs.

The AM 357 T ignition switch has a designated generator field terminal to connect with the F field terminal on the generator.

Hope this helps.

Agree.

Thanks guys! I appreciate everything. I will return and order the correct part.

James, I appreciate all the help with the pictures as well, thank you again.
