6400 stepper motor 3 pt hitch

Our 6400 3pt hitch would not work yesterday. I tried to raise and lower hitch with the stepper valve but I can only push the screw in, it won't turn left or right. Could it be frozen up inside? I took it off and the shaft on it won't turn by hand at all. Could a problem with the stepper valve keep the hitch from working at all? Thanks for your help!

How long ago did it last work?

I suppose water could get in the motor or gears and rust it up over time, or all sorts of things in the little motor or gearbox could break, jam, or stick.

Yes, because that valve controls both the raising and lowering of the hitch.

If it's stuck, the hitch ain't gonna move.

tractor has been run routinely through the winter but hitch hasn't been used since last fall. Got it fixed today, it was stuck. Took a rubber mallet to it and got it freed up. Works fine now
