Kuhn hay rake with a two cylinder 430

Ok, Im gonna try and run a kuhn vrake with a tyo cylinder john deere 430s. I asked before about the original hydraulic remotes that were an option and i am giving up on that...expensive and hard to find.

So I am going to rig up something. Will this work:

Single spool 4 way open center valve (id like float for other things if possible)

Four hoses: supply and returnfor the valve, and two to the breakaway couplers.

Anyone know the fittings I would need to connect to the tractor?

Any reason this is a bad idea?

you can interrupt the pressue line from the front pump right behind the dash. Run a hose from there to your valve the the return from the valve will go back into the spot on the 3 point valve where the pressure line was originally hooked. That is they way my loader is hooked. It also has a "power beyond" line that hooks into a plug on the 3 point. If you want to know specific fittings you might look up the #35 loader on parts snd check plumbing for it. CAUTION, be sure there is a relief valve in the spool valve and it is set around 1000 psi or you can crack the hydraulic pump.

Thanks for the tip on the relief valve, i didnt think of that.

I looked at spool valves at my local tractor supply. All the valves have SAE ports. They have a whole wall of hydraulic fittings and hoses that are npt. They dont sell any adapters. I asked them why they sell valves that arent compatible with anything hydraulic that they stock. They didnt know why either.

I am not familiar with the Kuhn rake you mention. If you are going to run a hydraulic motor on the rake I don't think the 430 will work. Just not enough hydraulic reservoir to keep from heating up.

Its just a kuhn speedrake wheel V rake. The hydraulics would just be raising and lowering the wings so you can pick them up to turn around at the end of the field.

The 430 originally had a remote that was plumbed to some ports under the seat. Not sure where exactly but thats what I planned to do. Ill consider tapping the pressure line though I wonder would that have any effect on raising/lowering the three point?
