John Deere 2010 hydraulic remote lever/remote problem

I bought this JD2010 last year and got the Diesel engine running great. Changed all fluids, cleaned filter, etc.

The fellow I bought it from said to keep the bungee cord attached to pull the remote hydraulic lever forward (furthermost left). Last weekend after working it for a few hours a grinding sound started. I detached the bungee into neutral.

My 3pt hydraulics work and it seems like the automatic steering works, but the remote seems broken. I tried moving the lever forward and reverse to engage the remote hydraulics, but grinding sound occurs.

Can anyone describe what is happening and what needs fixed? I have the operating manual, service manual, and parts manual. I cannot tell from the exploded pictures what is making the grinding sounds when engaging the remote lever to enable my front loader.

Thanks,

-Jeff

I couldn't edit my post to include details that I left out

This is a 1964 John Deere 2010 RU Diesel utility tractor SN is in the 44000 range. I think its a single hydraulic system with a single remote control valve.

The front loader is a John Deere 48

I assume that the lever was bunged cord forwards as you have the hydraulics for the loader coming off of the rear remote.

My guess is that there is a pressure relief valve in the control valve that has debris caught in it making a noise as oil is blowing by.

Thanks I will look at clearing the relief valve but the grinding sound seems more like in the transmission case under the feet/relief valve area. I am confused what engaging the remote lever forward causes mechanically or should that action only open a hydraulic port? Yes it was forward bungee cord of the remote lever.

Maybe opening a port puts mechanical load on a shaft that is at the end of its life?

Thanks much

I agree with Hay maker2 that it sounds as if scv is being activated by moving lever forward to supply hyd pressure to loader control valve.

Check to be sure both loader valve spools are in neutral position.

Check to be sure both levers(key 33) on breakaway coupler are aimed down which allows oil to flow through breakaway couplers

Well this is solved. Seems like you were both right that the pressure release valve fluttered and i re-seated the hydraulic hoses in the rear ports. The sounds went away and the front loader works fine.

Thanks so much for the advice.
