some JD 2 cyl prices

My friend passed away this last January and had a shed full of his 2 cylinder tractors that he's restored over the last twenty years. I've also got some and will likely sell them within the next year. His widow has asked me to see if I can get some values for the tractors before some of them go to family members, friends and then some to sell. Would you please take a look at these eight and let me know what you think they may be worth? The GP Wide Tread will likely be the most valuable. Following is the list with the year, model and serial number:
1936 A 430200
1956 70 7039947
1928 D 69241
1958 720 7227463
1959 730D ES 7311794
1951 B w/cult 277030
1929 GP 210337
1931 GP Wide Tread403069

The 720 won't start right now and not sure if it's got low compression. There's also a nice 1948 D and a 1941 H that I don't have photos right now.

Thanks for any input you can provide.
Wes

The 70 standard and 720 non runner may not bring a whole lot. I think I have 2500 for a 730 diesel non runner then put $2500 into it, there are less and less people working on the two cylinder diesel fuel systems and lots of them have had the taperloc flywheel on them. Now the 730 on the other hand, if it has original flywheel and 3 point, by condition in pictures could be worth 8500 to 12,500. Just my opinion here.

Where are you located? What is condition of 530? I may try to get one sometime

Nice tractors. Would love to have the '28 D. Have a '36 A like that, round spokes and all, restored, paid $3500 for it about 10 years ago, probably not worth that today. You might be surprised what the 70 STD is worth. The 530 hi a highly sought model.

They might want to have a talk with Mecum Auctions and consign all of them. They would likely bring maximum dollar there.

Very nice tractors. Where are U located. Your location can have some bearing on what the tractors bring. How would U sell them, private sale or auction? Would be very interested in the 530. The gpwt is high dollar and this one looks really nice. Please let me know where your located. My name is Bill. Phone 614-561-9454 or send me a message. I'm in Ohio Many thanks.

The GPWT, 730D and 530 should have the most value. The others may be disappointing, but the first three should more than make up for the rest. You might consider only sending the first three to name brand auction and selling the rest locally to keep selling costs down. Is there another antique tractor auction in your area?

I would sell the loader on the 720 separately and try to get the 720 running, even if it runs poorly, just so it drives.

Check with Mecum Auctions for recent sale prices on similar models. If you sell them through Mecum factor in the hauling charges and commission. Some of them would be better sold locally. I just bought a 70 diesel standard very similar to the one in your pics. It came from North Dakota, both engines ran but it had been parked for two years. Paid $2350. The 730D and 530 and several others may be worthy of the Mecum auction.

I think the 530 and 730 are staying in the family. I've got the entire 30 series myself with far more money invested in them then I'll ever get back out of them. I'm most interested in the value of the GPWT.

Nothing against the auction houses but seeing what some of the beautiful tractors are selling for makes me think what a shame considering what it costs to restore a tractor these days.

Wes...there was a 1931 John Deere GPWT listed on Tractor House for $19,500. It was listed by someone who sells a lot of John Deeres and knows the market. Located in Wisconsin.

Would be interested in the 70 if it goes for sale 803 478 4547
