Have a cooling issue. Coolant is not circulating. top pipe is hot, bottom pipe is cold. About 10 minutes after cold start, the temp gauge quickly rises to the maximum temp. Taking radiator cap off, shows some limited steam but no apparent boiling.

It did this same thing a couple years ago. I removed bottom pipe, there was no obstruction. As quickly as the symptoms developed, they disappeared.

I'm not sure what actions to take.

About the only thing that can cause problems like that on a thermo-siphon system is blockage of water flow. Take off the bottom pipe and flush the block and radiator to make sure flow is good. Then make sure the fins in the radiator aren't plugged with dirt. Very simple system.

You got a pressure washer? When I had my B apart I had both upper and lower pipes off and took the pressure washer and cleaned out both ends of the block, radiator, and down the radiator fill neck. LOT of crap came out!

How much loose scale and junk is laying on top of the radiator core blocking the tubes? Drain the coolant far enough to see the top of the core when you have the cap off.

I topped off coolant (only about 1/2 gallon low) and problem solved. I couldn't imagine that little of a shortage would cause problems. Thanks for the replies
