Two-cylinder vs. Green magazine subcriptions

Okay, guys gimme your inputs on this. I'm considering subscribing to either the Two-Cylinder magazine or the Green magazine. Who out there
has inputs pros/cons on either or both of them? I'm leaning towards the Two-Cylinder magazine. It's bi-monthly but the Green magazine is
monthly. Dunno, if it really makes a difference. what have you all benefited from either of these? Thanks.

They both have some good info and I have used classifieds in both with good response but ads have to be placed around a month ahead so most everthing is sold when magazine arrives. In my case I have interest in tractors from 25 to 50 years old and some express their displeasure if anything that has more than 2 cyl. Different age groups from wanting what my Grandfather had to what their Dad had to wanting what you personally had takes in close to 90 years. The 20 series is 55 years old and right now I am seeing more interest in the 30/40/50/55 series especially true open station. Tractor rides are still popular and plow days are fun along with parades and shows so if you are an enthusiast better get them both.As far as data on specific origon the Two-Cyl makes it a business and have access to the archives.Too bad J.R.Hobbs is gone as He was working on finding some answers to questions that are asked but never answered like P.S. and HFWD which I was told there has been some progress. The Jan/Feb 2008 Two Cylinder has been very helpful to me on 20 series.I have purchased some unsold copies for a few of my collector friends.I have given piles of them away to people that like old magazines.

Green Magazine is much better as it has lots of technical articles whereas Two Cylinder leans more toward human interest stories and pictures of tractors. Green Magazine also has Mr. Thinker which is a question and answer section. I take them both.

I have subscribed to BOTH, I wrote several electrical articles which were published in Green Magazine, I submitted articles and presented several Technical Workshop Seminars at Two Cylinder Expos (Iowa, Illinois and New York) as well as Gathering of the Green so

FWIW MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE IS GREEN MAGAZINE

I have gotten both in the past and if I was in a position now to get magazines I would get both.

I had gotten both for awhile but now get Green Magazine. It seems more general to me in the years covered. Paul

They are both good. For history Two Cylinder is a little better. For everything else Green Magazine is a little better. You'll be happy with both. JMO

Okay, thanks for the wide array if info and opinions Gentlemen! That has given me some brain fodder to chew over. I like them both, but will opt for one right now only. I'm going with Green Magazine.

Green magazine . The only thing wrong with it is the pictures are so small in some of the articles they are very hard to see. Other than that it?s great it does have a lot of advertising which I personally like .

I get them both and have for over 20 years, still have every issue and frequently look things up in both. Would not part with them.

Thanks, I gave a ton of them (Two Cylinder Expos and Gatherings of the Green) but pretty much gave up that gig when we started staying in Florida all winter because I don't want to drive to COLD Iowa or Illinois in March lol

Take care now

I get them both, and have for years. Good info in both. Two Cylinder has production number info and such, plus, as mentioned, they're big on "correctness". GM has a lot of good technical articles. The editor/publisher, Richard in Bee, is a member of this forum.

I realize this is a problem, however it is not an easy one to solve. If we get an an article from one of our writers on say rebuilding a carb, they might send 40 photos with it showing all the steps. If we run those photos at a quarter page size each that's 10 pages before any of the text, so maybe a total of 14 pages.
You have the following choices.

Run it all at once which will cause some to say that they aren't interested in one fourth of the editorial content of an issue, because they just restore diesels or New Generation.

Cut out a lot of photos. Which might cause confusion amongst some when important photos are left out.

Spread the article out over perhaps three issues, which will cause some to say, "All GM has in it is carb rebuilding articles anymore."

Or make the photos smaller.

I get both but I will not renew my Two Cylinder. Was going to drop it last year but for sure I will this year. Green Magazine is a lot better for me. ...My 2 cents worth..

I?m sure that it would be tough to make a magazine
every month and make everything fit . I have
always liked green magazine I first started getting it
clear back in grade school when i bought tractor
cards that If I remember right I seen in a farm
journal magazine add I think they were about 3$ a
set I?ve gotten the magazine off and on since that
time

I get both. 2 cyl gives some history on SN, production #s, etc. GM gives you the "doublemint gum", two for the money. Plus it has lots of technical help.

Hope they both continue to publish.
