Does any one know what SN. 703384 THE LAST ( A John Deere Tractor to roll off assembly line in 1952) might be valued at . I have a located this particular tractor , and have the opportunity to buy it . But don't know where to start as for as how much it's value may be . And owner wants me to make an offer first before he tells me what he will Seattle for on it .Tractor is in fair to good condition, seals on axle leaking some but runs good , sheet metal is good paint sun bleached & faded some but I think it's the original paint from factory still on it . Any info would be appreciated much . Thanks

The first seems to be most collectable,But the last also has appeal.Value would be tough unless at auction. The 2 cyl are not as popular as the were at one time but there were some at Mecums that were in middle 5 fiqures.I personally only look at year but deal in much newer tractors. I walked right by the number one 4000 as it wasn't real nice and it brought over $40K at auction. The last 4020 is still in Waterloo at JD and the first was in Missouri.Walter Keller has been the largest collector of number ones but don't hear much about last ones.Anything in between isn't relevant although people are hunting the last 288 possible numbered 4000/4020 over 270,000 I have actually only seen 3.

Well this tractor definitely had value. It actually was on an auction this past weekend of a gentleman down south who had passed away. My friend took it to $17,500 over the phone and it kept going from there. I believe it sold somewhere between $26,000 and $29,000. It's heading to Iowa from what I've heard.
