I recently purchased a 35 model John Deere A. The fan bearings on the fan end of the shaft need replacing. I have removed the entire fan / shaft / housing from the tractor. It's my understanding one should be able to push "in" on the fan to release two "C" shaped keys that fit into a grove in the end of the shaft in order to remove the fan from the shaft. However, it only moves about 1/2 the distance necessary to remove the keys from the grove and sounds as though it bottoms out within the housing, not wanting to be depressed any further. Looking for suggestions to get this apart without tearing it up.
