1977 John Deere 4630 with powershift trans. I have tractor ready to split but can not loosen large bolts holding engine to housing. I broke a 1 1/8 closed end using a cheater pipe. I can get a better wrench and a longer pipe but asking what others do may keep me from making a big mistake. My question is it normal for these bolts to be this tight and is a bigger cheater pipe the way to go?

Any ideas will be appreciated.
Steve

I broke some wrenches due to misalignment between wrench and bolt head making it a 2 points contact.
Those bolts are supposed to be very tight indeed so I would think it is totally normal that you have to use a cheater pipe unless you are Hulk. A 3/4 breaker bar should do the job.
