#44H plow cylinder

Am looking at an original JD hyd cylinder for my # 44H plow. The one I've found has the two rows of stopper pin holes and part # is one of these two A 3162 R or A 9162 R, can't tell for sure on that first digit. Seller had two that looked identicle , other one is sold and had all hoses and power trol couplers for the old 2cyl tractors. He said it came off a 55 3btm. He also said this one he has left , the body looks a little larger. Don't know if that makes a diff. Mt tractor is '50 B If anyone has privy to these part numbers would really appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Ok..so just found out that this one would have came with model "A" and is slightly larger ram than "B" . The one for "B" is B2161R . Question is now, would it still have same compressed length and work with the "B"? Seems the ram size would only give more lift capacity for same PSI to possibly lift heavier plow but would still work ok going smaller...just not other way. I was also told the one came with "G" was even larger. I would think JD looked ahead enough to know some might want to pull their #44 with a "G" or "A" so would think the cylinder with them wouldn't make that not work??

Randy, I have the A and B part #'ed cylinders and have used them on my plows, two being a 44H's and they work fine. I don't have any knowledge on the G cylinder but seen one at the Gathering of the Green and it is considerably larger, but don't see why it wouldn't work either. Either way the A or B cylinder will work on your tractor and plow.

Thanks badger08 , that's the exact info I was after. I know I could just buy a TSC cylinder but then would have to make up some kind of stopper and hope it dodn't mar up the shaft so if used on something else, it would take the seal out. I like the idea of the dual pin/shaft adjustment on orig JD ones. Thanks again.

Three different size bores on those cylinders. The larger the bore the more lift. The larger cylinder used on the G and even the R was probably going to be lifting a 3 or 4 bottom plow. Also, remember the hydraulic pressure on the old 2-cylinders is pretty low in comparison to the new generation and later tractors. The expanded and contracted measurements are the same on all three cylinders as they had an 8" stroke, don't know if Deere made cylinders for tractor use with other than 8" stroke. Never seen any.
