Nearby dealer has a 2630 with 146 loader listed--"average condition"----are these models similar to the 2640-just an earlier version, maybe?--worth looking at?

Yes a 2630 is basically an older 2640. Would be a nice size loader tractor. What options,hi-lo,independent pto or two stage clutch? The hi-lo can be expensive to work on but then again what is not anymore. Tom

No Hi-lo I think --gotta go check it out further--dealer ad says 898 hours--but average condition--

I seriously doubt that a tractor that is approximately 44 yrs old only has 898 hrs of use.

Be sure to check operation of hyd's with engine temp at 190-200°F.
Also check condition(PH) of engine coolant.

They are a great tractor, if its in any kind of shape. As suggested, coolant check, etc. I have one with the
hi-lo & independent PTO, never a moments issue. I have a 145 loader, the 146 is stronger I think, and nicer
controls.

We had an early 2630 for about ten years early this century. Showed 1200 hours, I assumed it was 11,200. Always started hard, but did okay with a 520? loader (newer model). Not the strongest hydraulics. Started to get oil in the coolant/coolant in the oil, sent it in and it needed sleeves, did a complete overhaul. Tractor starts great now, still running strong, my buddy uses it to plow snow and keep up at his 5 acres.
