I have a 1952 A and the clutch is not doing right. It?s snatching and jerking when I go to engage it and was told,on this site, that I need to go through it.sent off for a book and am wondering if I will have enough room to get the cluth pieces out without removing the wheel. I have 4 and 1quarter inches between the pulley and the tire.

If you have the cast iron centers, you can just remove the outer clamps and turn the tire/rim to get clearance without having to free up the axle clamp and hope to get it to slide on axle. I doubt that 4 1/2" is near enough.

Probably not without at least moving the wheel out. It has to clear the end of the crankshaft and it extends almost to the dust cover of the pulley with the bolt in the center. I did one a long time ago on an A that had the wheels pretty far out but had to move it out farther. I don't think it had to come off, but just moving it out was a bear. We could "almost" get the pulley off by cocking it to the front as much as possible as it came off. Best to have someone with you for both removing the pulley and moving the wheel. Both are heavy and awkward. I'm sure someone will chime in who has more experience and a better memory! Good luck!

Let the air out and put a 2 inch racket strap on it. You can pull it flat enough to get it by-if your lucky.

I have the cast centers, could take the tire and rim off. Didn?t realize that was the end of the crank right behind the dust cover. May try a 3 inch ratchet strap on the deflated tire first. Thanks for the good info.
