4430 quad range no reverse

Looking for advice on John Deere 4430 Quad
Range. Reverse went out yesterday with no
warning. Front wheels had dropped in mud
hole went to back up and no reverse.
Transmission had worked flawlessly till that
point. Tractor is used as a loader tractor
to load feed wagon daily. would appreciate
any input. Thanks

First check the easy stuff. Make sure the external linkages are still hooked up.

Did that. Everything moves as it should.

A couple things could be happening, Key shorn in the reverse drive collar,reverse sliding gear dubbed off or broken,,since it's been used as a loader tractor reverse takes a beating over time,,it's gonna need split...

Your reverse gear probably broke and is laying on the bottom of your transmission case. Happened to me and my neighbor,
