I have used Hasting rings for 50 yrs. When I had the machine shop & since I have retired. I checked the other day for overbore rings for 2cyl 'A' Deere. The answer was we have .040,.060 & .120. The aftermarket pistons come .045,.090.125 So has anybody been checking end gaps .

Yes, the last set I received were 2x what an end gap should be.

Good call!

The .060" rings in a .090" bore would make make for a pretty big gap I would think?!?! LOL

Glen, I don't understand why they would say or do this. They are a great US Co. The end gap is a standard we live by. .040&.120 is close to correct but .060 NO. I have a man I am in contact with that manufactures specialty rings. His range is one inch to 7 inches. He does a great job. I will start using him. I don't know what the aftermarket rebore kits are using. Do we buy pistons & then go & find rings ?

I don't have any firsthand experience with aftermarket piston kits in this application(JD 2 cyl. engines) but I do find the situation particularly odd considering Hastings
reputation & years in the business.

Looks like custom rings may be in order if optimum ring seal is important to the builder.

Yet another reason for taking the time to blueprint / measure clearances during a build......
