Can I ask what you are refering to? I was always told they are the best made. The cob just got behind the base and in no way affected the filter or let any dirt in. Tom

The first ones were clear glass. I watched a guy explode one with the primer pump.

I recall a service bulletin which indicated turning the hold down clip up side down for better sealing.

I've watched on a cold day when air was getting sucked in around one of those o-ring fittings.

Had a customer, who, since he could see through the filter, took it off, shook the crud out, and put it back on. Guess what happened next?

I thought they were neat at first, but they have not taken over the industry, for good reason.

Some higher pressure priming systems were designed for the metal filter of that style....maybe the wrong type was used when the glass exploded?

Yes, a corn cob for sure. I just thought it was pretty funny when I removed the filter. I didn't know whether to not disturb it and put on the new one or vacuum it out. I held the red buttons on by hand and vacuumed it out. I can only figure a mouse dragged it up there. It is hard to believe it flue in there.

Interesting comments. I never knew there were issues with this type of filter. I guess it is hard to beat the spin on types.

Have a good day.

We switched both our 3020's to the glass filters years ago and never had a problem. I do remember shattering one on one of the 4440's once though. Just blew up without warning. Put a new one on and never had an issue again.
