hi am looking to do a restoration on my 1931 john deere GP i was wondering where i can find parts for this tractor it is seized up was siting out side for many years the cast valve extension on the block where the tappet goes in is broke off the block i don't know if this can be fixed or if i need to find a block any help will be appreciated the cam is broke as well

yes this is a big bore not a small bore i'm going to try an put some pics of the tractor on later today

The first big bore GP tractors are small bore tractors with the big bore blocks installed. Deere was using up parts on hand and converting some small bore tractors that were still in inventory to big bores. The later 31 big bores are identified by taller radiators and heat shields under the fuel tanks. The main bearing caps have bolts holding them together instead of the set screw clamps on the earlier tractors. The first reduction gear cover has a removable cover on the back of it on the later big bores also. When you are hunting for parts be aware of the changes.

I?ll take a look later today to see if it?s early or late. Here?s some pictures

I think it's a later big bore. A quick look at the back of the first reduction gear cover will tell. I believe the camshafts are all the same big or small bore. The front axle on your tractor is the soybean special. I have 2 early big bore tractors, one is 223803 the first production big bore.

By the pics you might have a "beaner" made especially for edible beans in Michigan's thumb. Pretty rare GP if so. Check the serial number for sure.
