Disc Mower Frontier 5070

I'm thinking about buying a Frontier DM5070 3pt disc mower. Anyone have this model? What's the pros and cons about disc mowers. Worth the money?

That mower is Kuhn mower painted green. That being said they are not a bad mower at all. The only one I would say that is heavier built is Krone.

The shear hub design is a good thing to have as it can save your cutter bar from damage.

Check the price of the knives. Some one was telling me they were High priced, like $17 each???? I do not see how they could be that high. So asked the price from the dealer your looking at it from. Also asked if they Keep any parts for it. Keep in mind that Frontier stuff is made for JD but is not JD. The parts network is totally different than the mainline JD one. So getting parts over night is not always going to happen.

According to JD parts blades for DM5070 are as follows

kuhn makes them, quality unit. As earlier reply, Frontier parts take time and my local dealer doesn't sell many, making the process slow. I'd order a set of knives as part of the deal so you'll have them on hand when need to replace the odd one or whole set. From experience, took me two weeks to get wear item parts for a Frontier tiller.

I buy blades from NH dealer in stock. About $2.50 each in a box of 25.I run straight blades not curved. YMMV

That looks a lot like our Kuhn GMD 600 mower but a bit updated. Make sure when you take it off you have it on level ground and do not lose the stand. Ours is pretty near beat to death and without the stand it is a bear to put on a tractor.

As far as the mower it is a good machine. We used it to mow open space and under trees in an orchard and it does a good job. It is easy to work on as well. I have in a pinch bought blades at tractor supply and they worked just fine.
