Checking rear end oil on G ??

I replaced a leaking seal on the PTO shaft on my 53, G. I want to check the oil levels. There is a fill plug on the right rear side, but I can't see anything in my operators manual that tells me what that fill plug is for? What oil would have leaked around the PTO shaft ? Thanks, Dick

That is the fill plug for trans/rearend oil. It is also the place to check the level. If the oil is up to the plug you are fine.

The oil that leaked around the pto shaft is the hydraulic oil, probably SAE 30 weight engine oil or whatever you use for hydraulic oil. The fill port is the square headed cap by the Powr-Trol decal. Open the test level cock on the right side of the Powr-Trol box and add oil until oil starts running out of the test level cock. If totally empty it should take almost 4 quarts.

That's a nice looking GW, 801 hitch, and 813 plow.
