12volt electrical system on 4010 JD diesel

I have a 4010 JD diesel with 12 volt system and the wires are cut from the alternator to the dash. What wires from the alternator go to the dash and where? I will probably have to replace the light switch.

A 4010 diesel never left the factory as 12 Volts, OR with an alternator, so what you have is someone's "conversion".

First, we need to know what alternator you have, if you don't know, a photo would help.

If it is a common 10SI Delco, I have conversion instructions that should be of help to you.

OK, so it's a Delco. we still need to know (for sure) if internally or externally regulated.

As I wrote before, I would expect it to be internally regulated, but someone in the past could have just a well used an externally regulated unit.

As I said before, if internally regulated, I have a diagram for you, if you'd care to email me, I'll forward it back to you.

Mjn, I replied to your direct email and forwarded the information to you, along with a request to let me know if you got it and could open it.

I haven't heard back.

Were you able to retrieve the info I sent?
