JD A slant dash

I see slant dashes advertised like they're a desirable tractor to have but they don't seem all that rare to me. Can anyone enlighten me? What do you think this one is worth? Comes with a 2 bottom plow. Ran last spring but won't start now.

The only rare slant dash A's would be one that is not all beat up and missing parts. All the electric start A's from 39-47 had slant dashes. Same with long hood B's ( flat dash ). Now a slant dash B which was from 39 and 40 were not that many of them around.

Note the Dash and Battery Support (Key 65) available on all Model A tractors from serial number 477000 through 583999.

Reviewed the [b:654c4848f0]<a href="https://www.amazon.com/John-Deere-Tractor-Data-Book/dp/0760302286">JOHN DEERE TRACTOR DATA BOOK</a>[/b:654c4848f0] under the [b:654c4848f0]John Deere Model A (1941-1952)[/b:654c4848f0] section in the [b:654c4848f0]Comments[/b:654c4848f0] topic on page 48.

"[i:654c4848f0]Serial number 499139 was the first styled AN, built September 11, 1940.
Serial number 583301 was the last styled AN, built February 3, 1947[/i:654c4848f0]"

Either of these two tractors would be "rare".

Since it "[i:654c4848f0]won't start now[/i:654c4848f0]", too many unknowns for me and not worth much.

I would say a slant dash A qualifies more as unique than rare.

Soooo..., would a 1949 A with a slant dash be considered rare? This is the only one I've ever seen.

That's about what I thought. Don't know why everyone around here thinks they have something special.

I have a 1947 that's missing battery cover and carb that engine is free. and is avaible.
