Anyone have trouble with PowerTrol valve on a 50 60 or 70. My 70 rockshaft will not stay up anymore. The piston O-Ring is brand new. When I lift my plows for example they drop back to the ground quite fast.

Is your hydraulic oil level dropping? If the gasket that Mike mentioned is the culprit, your hydraulic oil will be leaking into the final drive.

My 50 was dropping like yours, but leaking into the final drive. When I took it apart I found some of the rockshaft cylinder bolts were only finger tight, and none of them were safety wired.

Possible the gasket that seals the cylinder to the rear housing is blown out.

The piston,Oring and gasket are all good I pulled the back housing to check. Even pulled the pump thinking somehow it might be involved of course it was not but all rebuilt never the less. It has to be something about the valve, this summer I plan to do some pressure testing and make sure the adjustments are all where they are supposed to be. I was hoping someone might have had the same issues and could steer me in the right direction possibly for an easy fix.

It has to be something about the valve

Reviewed the Hydraulic Equipment SERVICE MANUAL John Deere Waterloo Works SM-2011 (Dec-52).

Take a look at the WILL NOT STAY IN RAISED POSITION troubleshooting list below.

Note the second item Check valves leaking. Reseat.

Take a look at the Orientation Diagram below.

Note the CHECK VALVES, TO CHECK VALVES, and OIL LINE COUPLINGS.

Take a look at the TESTING CHECK VALVES FOR LEAK topic below.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestions, once all this snow is gone will get out to the back barn and focus on that valve. Is the valve lock available or will I have to machine one up?

"Is the valve lock available or will I have to machine one up?"

This is the only information I found on the valve lock.

Thank you James looks like there is another tool I need. I have a spare valve it's time to get it out and start trying to figure this thing out.
