The post below got me thinking.

How much was a non-turbo'd 6030 new in '73? How did it compare price wise to a 4630 at the time? The 4630 would have been similar or more HP, had more transmission options, and a lot nicer cab.

Being the 4620 really cut into 5020 sales, it amazes me Deere even offered the non turbo option on the 6030.

I don't see the issue with 1000 only on 130HP plus tractors.

1000PTO is required for pushing silage up, big grain carts, big square baler. I cannot see someone buying a 4620,6030 or 4630 and not having a smaller 2520-4020 to do the small jobs.

The only reason to have a non turbo charged 6030 would be there was only 45 made. There were 3983 with turbo. We traded our 6030 even up after one season for new 4630 with the much improved cab.Missed the close to 100 H.P.difference but a good pump man fixed that but.there was a still difference due to cubic inches. The first side counsel 4020 had a sticker price on door with listed options like cars do.I remember it being $10681 with no A/C but Stolper cab.You could buy them straight out for around $8K.I always thought it was odd no P.S. or HFWA or Sound Guard cab on 6030 as they were a beast. One farmer had three of them and ran them well over 10K hours with not many problems.Thought I might like to have one again but 1000 PTO plus weight make them just a show piece.Actuaaly at a sale in eastern Iowa a nice 6030 brought $30K and a 4320 brought $35K.
