John deere b power trol

My leather cup has failed I believe in my 1941 b, later power trol installed, I was once told to ditch the leather cup, and get the revise style, like a piston with rings, can I do this and if so how what are part numbers, I'm a master tech for a ford dealer, so doing it isn't an issue, but I didn't know this was a thing, please let me know what ya think Dusty

why not buy a used one for it and bolt the whole thing on , I'd sell one for 100 plus shipping.

There's nothing wrong with using a leather cup in your Powr-Trol.
The p/n for the cup is B1145R, available from JD for $26.
Replacement is easy. Remove the top cover and disconnect the piston linkage. Then remove the entire Powr-
Trol valve box and pull out the piston. Replace the cup and put everything back.
If you need a new gasket between the valve box and the rockshaft housing the p/n is A1447R available from JD
for $15.
