Been awhile but just bought a 730 Gas; what are the positions for controls in re to operating the PTO? Are there any online operators manuals? Also, will Hy-Gard be ok in hydraulic system? Have several implements w Hy-Gard and want to use this tractor with them along w 5065e. Thx everyone!

Push pedal forward to engage and kick it down to disengage.
There is a little lever beside the shifter quadrant to take
it out of gear.
Hy-Gard is OK.

Parts book is free at the JD web site. Because good things in life are not free, nor come easy. The operator’s and service manuals are at 1-800-522-7448. Don’t try the IT manuals . They contain enough info to get one’s self into trouble .

Thanks folks, remember IT isn't gold standard for sure. First 2-cyl in awhile, always wanted a 730. Had several 'A' (early & late), BO, B, G, GM and dad has a 60. Need to pick a set of points/condenser/coil tomorrow, looking forward to swinging wrenches on an old Deere after a long time...thx again!

Actually, there is a engagement lever that must be turned counter-clockwise, with the engine NOT RUNNING. The foot pedal has THREE positions; forward all the way to engage, partially down for neutral (I think this will allow PTO operated equipment to gradually coast to a stop) and all the way down to disengage, which will lock the PTO shaft from turning. The manual also says that it may be necessary to engage the engine starter to get the engagement lever to move. If I have this wrong, someone please correct me.

FYI, my 720D has NO lever..

I keep a small Vice,Grip pliers on the light tube, to lock on the Flat top of the shaft..(between the shift quadrant and the PTO foot pedal.
