Found nothing in the ops manual to change the in line fuel filter on my 67 3020 gas. Would like to get it done with out getting bathed in gas. What is the best process to do this? It has 5/16" lines I think and the filter uses threaded compression fitting on each end. Thanks for any advice!!

I was thinking the lines were flared.
Just screw off the lines and install
the filter. I think it's directional.

You can shut off the valve under the tank if you want to. I usually just change them as quick as I can but you will get some gas on your hands. The filter was an update on non-console models which is why the owners manual does not mention it.

on my 67 3020 fuel line comes from tank. Rubber hose clamped on steel line then to filter clamped then rubber to metal line.. Thats what its always had.. so I vicegrip the rubber while I undo the two clamps and replace filter.. DONE

If you are using gas with ethanol, shut off gas under tank. Then try not to spill too much for too long on tractor or you will be repainting. But if you have had this type of filter on for some time, you already kow this. Then use vice grip on rubber hose to close off the flow.

There are no rubber hoses. It has metal compression fittings on the steel gas line on both sides of the filter. Deere did have a replacement filter for the tractor.

It might work best when the fuel tank is almost empty so the remaining fuel in the tank is below the open fuel line connection.

I shut the gas off at the tank on mine then start it. As it starts to lean out I choke it a bit to keep it running smooth and then a crack open the fitting on the TANK side of the fuel pump letting the pump suck air until it dies.

Yes there's still some dribbling but a whole lot less than if it's just removed & replaced.

Mine has rubber hoses.

I shut the valve under the tank and replaced the filter and NO LEAKS! Gas spillage was very little. Happy the shut off turned w/o a problem. Thanks for your help!!! Randy G

While under there did you happen to find the drain cock for the tank ? I'd drain some off to get the water and junk off the bottom.
