1938 A hi/lo replacement

Going to look at it tomorrow. Owner says it needs hi/lo fixed. How big of a job is it? How much needs to be disassembled? Thank you Paul
 
Depends. Take the top cover off and see if the shifter fork is broke or a gear is bad. If the shifter is somehow not moving the gears you might be able to get it to work. Otherwise if
it is a gear you will need to remove clutch, side cover, flywheel, side cover by flywheel and top transmission shaft to replace the gear or if it is the lower gear then the bottom
shaft also.

Thank you. I will assume the worst. Does the flywheel and clutch pulley have to be removed?
