I have a 2005 John Deere 320 Skiddy, 5xxxx hrs. It doesn't want to start after it has been ran awhile. Black smoke like it's over fueling. Has to sit and cool off before it'll restart. Governor????

Valve lash ?

Hydraulic valve lifters could be all in allowing the exhaust valves to stand open only when hot, but it's a long shot making that call.

Maybe more likely that the injectors are not popping off when hot but more of an oozing situation? Internal IP too so several things it could be and none of them cheap or easy to fix. This one needs a 4024T specialist, could waste a lot of money and time and still need to find one anyway.
