Well tore tractor back down to find had broken rings on both pistons and one piston needs replaced, need a 45 over piston for a 730 or 720 gas or lp if and when I find one going to overhaul and put back together. everything else has already been done. thanks

Rings were probably broken from pressure spikes due to detonation. Low octane fuel, over advanced ignition timing, lugging, oil consumption from worn rings, lean mixture , high air temperature and high coolant temperatures are all factors.
Is the distributor's mechanical spark advance fully functional?

yes this was a problem way before I got tractor, but block looks very good no ring grove. That's probably why it was parked in the first place.

I have one 730gas piston part # F2713R couldn't tell if it was .045 or not , may be std., do you need gas or lp they are not the same

My tractor is gas the lp piston will work but might have to buy both of them but must be 45 over if yours are 45 over the will be stamped next to the word top on piston

I have seen broken rings in several model 620 I worked on. These later tractors had thinner rings that seem to cause breakage problems. But I also think the engines were worn out too. As things wear the rings flex more and I guess break easier. Only way to know if the bore is any good is with a mic.

What's you piston measure at the bottom skirt? And I'll measure mine there's some minor pitting where the oversized would be marked and can't see anything
