'62 4010 Diesel 3-point lift control stuck

Was out plowing snow with the, new to me, 4010 using a back blade and noticed the lift control getting stiff. After about 20 minutes, it completely "froze up" and no amount of tugging or pushing will move the control arm. This is the fourth or fifth time I've used it this winter and haven't had any issues before this.

This tractor has a cab, so getting things apart is going to be challenging. Does anyone have suggestions or diagrams that show where the linkage connects and moves so I don't take off anything more than I have to?

It has a cable that attaches to the lever in the dash and then runs under the floor board to the rockshaft housing and connects behind where the right side three point arm comes out in behind the sheet metal. Not fun to get to with a cab. You will need to remove the floor plate. You could free up the old cable by putting it in a bucket of diesel fuel. I would replace it with a new one because of how hard it is to get to. Tom

Steiner tractor parts has a new cable at a good
price . I would try to get it moving and use some
penetrating oil on it

Perfect! Exactly what I needed to know. Thank You.

We have more snow on the way, so I'm hoping that I can get enough motion with penetrating oil to make it through the few days it will take to get a new cable shipped. :D

I had the same problem with my 4020 a few years ago. I removed the dash cowl and put penetrating oil into the flexible cable linkage. That helped and got me by for a while but eventually I replaced the cable with a new one and that is the way to go. Mine had an after market cab also but I removed it for other reasons and that's when I replaced the 3 point cable. I wouldn't attempt the job with a cab on the tractor.
