1010 hydraulic pump replacement

I'm looking for a replacement hydraulic pump (belly, rockshaft hydraulics) for an early 1010. My tractor is manual steering but the pump that's on it has the power steering circuit. I got the tractor with the rockshaft not working, and I'm just now getting to that part of this silly restoration.

According to the parts manual, it's AT 13145 T (AT 13586 T for power steering). I understand that these pumps are unavailable, but I did find used AT 181863 pumps. Is that a correct cross-reference number?

Also, I understand alternates abound. From another forum:

The 1010 uses a generic SAE pump two-bolt mount - same as used by Allis Chalmers, Case, Ford, Oliver, Massey Ferguson, etc. Very common.

Has anyone found a alternatives that work? (I'd actually prefer the power steering version, but I gather those are like hen's teeth.)

And before you ask, my pump feels good turning it in my hand, and it pumps a little (raises the arms, but not much power). But I'm skeptical of rebuilding it.

I'm just asking if anyone already figured this out. I searched but didn't find anything, and I'm trying to avoid buying something that doesn't fit right.

(I wrote down the pump specs as measured but can't find it now. So I have to pull the pump again. Dammit.)
 

I saw that. That's where I got the AT 181863. Trying to check before I buy.

And some are dozers, which apparently have a smaller pump.

Not sure about the pump on the dozer fitting. They have the same engine, not sure what else.

As far as "rebuilding" this pump goes, don't count on it. There's no real way to rebuild.

I have the pump off a 1010RU, SN 16XXX. I have NOT tested the pump and it's been sitting for a while, so I don't know if it works or not, but I don't really have a use for it if you're interested.

Sure, mine is 1010W 15XXX (but it's green now). We're both retired.

I have an early 1010 hydraulic pump from a rus and I am looking for a hydraulic pump with the power steering
ports for a different 1010U. Do you think we could work this out. Thanks, Tom 573 535 8952
 

Sure. My pump doesn't leak and it raises the rockshaft, but low power. fwiw, it feels good when I spin it in my hand.

I don't think it works. (I really should figure out a pressure gauge or something to test it.)

I thought about plumbing the PS circuit to some other use, but that's only if it actually worked. At this point I'd be happy with anything that lifts the 3-pt right.

The manual steering pump has parts available from Deere to rebuild that pump (seals, gaskets, etc). About $130 in parts to do a rebuild. You may want to check out JDParts.com to see what it would cost you to get all the stuff, or if you can, and rebuild the pump. I have heard that doesn't always solve the issues because things can be worn enough where new seals and gaskets can't replace worn out metal. It might however get out enough where the 3 PT. is usable especially where I think you mentioned before this is more of a show than use tractor.
 
Thanks. I don't have a manual-steering pump to rebuild, and I think I can find a working Cessna pump for not much more than the rebuild kit. Certainly no personal experience, just what I read.

Yes, this is just a hobby run amok. (A 1010W, of all things -- arguably the worst version of the worst tractor JD ever made.)

My problem is that I'm not entirely sure whether the pump or the rockshaft has the internal leak. I do have another pump that works and that bolts up to the front of the tractor (former loader). So I'm thinking of buying the hoses I need to hook that to the rockshaft hydraulics. (I want to do something else with that pump, so I have to sort what hoses I need for that before I buy them.)

Macgyver kindly forwarded pages from the service manual to wrap my head around the control valves &etc. (I did get the Operator and Shop manuals, before y'all holler at me again.)

I'll call around to see if someone can test my pump, a PS version. Since it could be kinda valuable, I think I need to find out what I actually have.
 
I am attaching photos of an early 1010 hydraulic pump without power steering. I'm assuming it is an AT13145T pump
assembly that I am willing to sell or trade. I am looking for a late hydraulic pump with power steering, assembly
number AT15509T. Can you determine if your pump is an early pump #AT13586T or the later one, #AT15509T?

Sorry I didn't catch your reply last week.

I don't know how to tell the difference between #AT13586T and #AT15509T. All I know is that it fits my SN 157XX tractor. I notice that my return line has some welding (modified?), and the outlet is a hose. The PS circuit has straightforward hose connections.

I'm working on re-attaching a front pump that I know works, to test whether I have a leak in the rockshaft hydraulics. I have to figure out and buy some hoses. This should give me a clue whether my pump works right. (Right now, I doubt it.)

I'd rather use a belly pump, so I am interested in yours. But I still don't know what I actually need. All I know is that the rockshaft hydraulics looked good inside (took the back cover off), then pump felt good spinning it in my hand, and the rockshaft lifts but with inadequate power.

Because I have an industrial model, my rockshaft is a hybrid beast: twin cylinder but single quadrant. Gotta love it.
