5200 no throttle

Greetings, I'm working on a new-to-me 5200 diesel that was run out of fuel. Filled it up and opened the bleed screw on the injector pump and cranked until I got fuel. Closed it up and tried to start. Cranked for a bit but no fire. Later I learned about the primer on top of the fuel filter so hit that a few times, cranked, nothing. A few more, cranked, nothing. A bunch more, cranked and fired up. Whew! New problem... now there is no response at the throttle. All of the linkage is fine and moves freely at the injection pump. Did I damage the pump? or what am I missing???? Thanks!

Mike, are you saying to open up each injector as it's running? I can try this. Are you thinking there is still air in the system? Not sure how it would run at all, even at idle like it does now, if there was still air in the lines.

Here is an Idea that I hope is wrong...are you sure it actually ran out of fuel?? Maybe you have a pump failure that seemed like it ran out of fuel....I have seen this many times....

Fuel tank was dry as a bone. And previous user told me they cranked for quite a while convinced they still had fuel in there. Not.

Okay,,when ever things don't seem right you have to re-think the silly things...so re-check the fuel supply..if it's only getting a little bit of fuel it won't rev up...

That's the only way to know for sure the air is out. Crack each line at each injector. I don't know how you even got it started without have to bleed the injector lines ? My 5105 would not. I also put an electric fuel pump on it to bleed it for filter changes as the factory hand pump on the filter top is a joke.

Yes those factory rubber hoses with the cloth covering are not very good,, I replace a lot of those..

I think your tractor may be similar to my 5055d. From the online manual...
