top gear will not come out 720 PS

I cannot get the top gear to come loose or out of the pedestal. I have done this several time before on 730 and 720 but this tractor will not give it up. I have the top bolt out and even with heat no luck. Yes worm gear is removed. I even put a pry bar and tapped on it. HELP

Some are harder than others that is for sure. First be careful not to hit your casting with hard steel. Heat is good, now you will need a couple simple tools. Get a piece of hardwood such as an old hammer handle of piece of a wood splitter handle to tap up from underneath the gear. Apply heat, I like to use a map gas torch as it is not necessary to get anything red hot. Use a sacrificial bolt in the top of the gear to tap on. Now one other simple tool you need is a short handled 3lbs. hammer to tap with. While supporting the pedestal with a wood box made from a 2x12 you can start alternating tapping up from underneath the gear and tapping on the bolt from above. The 2x12 box hold the pedestal off the floor so the weight of the pedestal helps separate the gear. Go slow and keep tapping it will come off.

I have a chain hoist like in the picture and using a aluminum drift will reheat and keep tapping on the loose bolt on top.
Thanks for the reply.

Put a long bolt in the top to extend above the top casting. Put some sort of wedges under the gear to hold it up against what little play there is. Have the weight of the assembly in your favor by holding it vertical. Best if still in tractor. Get a real sledge and hit that bolt ! It will drop loose.
TIP. Check your spindle end play and write it down before you loosen this up and take it apart. You will need to adjust shim pack when going back together more than likely.
