New gen battery boxes

I looked at them a few years ago for a 2510. At the time the battery boxes from JD weren't that much more expensive and included the hold downs. I ended up buying the JD version. Earlier this year I needed another battery box and JD's went up and are quite a bit more expensive and I don't think they have the hold downs in them anymore. I think they're around $110 and the aftermarket ones I've seen are $50. I decided to try the AM version from Worthingtons. Overall I wish I had just shelled out the money for the JD version. The AM version isn't half as well built and the bottom of the box where it hooks onto the battery brackets are bolted on and don't line up very well at all. The JD is welded on and I haven't had any problems with lining up. Putting the AM box on required 2 people for me. I had to hold the box and battery up while someone else pecked on the boxes mounts with a small hammer till they lined up. If it was me I'd go with JD if I was getting another.

I went on the John Deere page and I can?t buy Just the box it wants to sell me the whole assembley for 143$

I put an aftermarket set on a tractor at work one day and they lined up poor and seemed really flimsy. I put a set on my 4020 from JD and I'm happy with them. If your worried about them rotting out get JD. IF not I'd go aftermarket.

Just looked at the JD parts catalogs. The 2510 has different part numbers than the 4020. I thought they were all the same. The right hand box shows $110 and the left shows $156 for a 2510. I'm not to good with computers so maybe I'm looking at something wrong.

They are two different aftermarket qualities of boxes. The one made by RTP is fairly cheaply made, flumzy, and sold for slightly more than $50. The one made by Advantage (Abylene has them), is better built and run more in the $80 range. Those one are usually painted yellow and are considerably heavier.
Still the same bolt on design for the supports, and that is in order to get same boxes for the early and late tractors.

I put a set of aftermarket ones on about 15 years
ago the ones is still holding up well but a tire chain
caught the one and ruined it

Plowboyequipment on eBay has a good box in primer that I have used. Brackets are welded on already and they fit good. $94 shipped. If you buy 2 the shipping is combined.
John Deere boxes I believe are. $110 and already painted.
Them boxes that come with the brackets that bolt on are junk and made of lighter gage steel. If I remember right, there is almost 2#'s difference in weight
