Bought this from a friend last fall, runs good has around 5k hours.Noticed before I bought it that back of starter was cracked.Brought it home put loader on it.Was going to buy another starter and then generator stops working, tested it and it is shot.So I decide to get a 12 volt starter and put a alternator in place of generator.Bought a iskra starter on TimS recommendation, found a 12si alternator laying around the shop and did conversion this weekend.Pretty impressed with that starter, really wings the engine over good. Some of you guys probably seen this conversion a hundred times.Lol>Paul

Mine came already converted and I just swapped the 4020 over to 12 volt the other day I put a Dixie elctric starter on it and the 3020 has a gear reduction starter on it and it really spins er over

You did the right thing by changing it over to 12 volt. It just makes things so much simpler. There are some people that think the 24 volt was a great idea. I always get a laugh when someone puts a 24 volt question on here and there are lots of replies and nobody agrees on anything and it gets to be long post. You never see that on 12 volt tractors.
