37 G Pricing

I an thinking about selling my 37 G #1146. It has been professionally restored and painted which includes G round spokes, new tires all around, new hood, new radiator core, engine complete rebuild including +.045 high compression aluminum pistons, tranny and rear end gone thru to replace anything needed. It runs great. Had open-heart surgery several years ago and it is almost too much to try and start. I am thinking from what I see on auctions and sales that I should be up close to $20,000. What are your thoughts? Am I out in left field?? I realize these early alpha digit tractors are starting to moderate price wise but there aren't a lot much nicer especially with the low serial number.

Your tractor sounds like a really nice one. To get anywhere near that kind of value your going to have to get with one of the BIG named auction houses and have it advertised nationally or even world wide so to speak. Even then it will have to be correct. Meaning serial number matches what it currently is.

My advice is to sell sooner than later. The older tractors are falling in value as the collector's hot shop moves ahead in time. The money is moving into the 1960 and 1970 tractors now.

Sounds like a really nice tractor. Problem is prices haven't just started to fall, they've been going downhill for quite a few years. It will continue as more of us old folks die off or are no longer physically able to enjoy them. Unless you're able to hook up with a major auction house as JD suggested I'm afraid you're in for a big disappointment. Probably a fourth of what you're thinking it should be.

There's a MECUM auction coming up April 5 thru 7 in Davenport, Iowa. Consignments required sooner than Febuary 20 to be included in the showbook.

Sorry it has the recalled big radiator. I replaced with a new core. I considered buying all the pieces to put it back as a low radiator but found my pockets could not dig deep enough. Too bad.
