got the neighbors 2020 in the shop, starting issues. don't know much about these marvel Schebler carbs, little screen was plugged with crap, got a new screen and disassembled the carb and cleaned it all out. still doesn't start right. dosent seem to be getting gas, pump seems to be pushing it, but how do you check the pressure on the fuel pump?? book gives me specs. anything special with these carbs to look for? this carb doesn't have the fuel shutoff solenoid on it.

I'd unplug the fuel line at the carb and see if fuel flows out, while someone if cranking the tractor.
Did you clean out the screen that sticks into the carb (where the fuel line plugs on)?
Squirt a touch of ether into the air intake (while you are cranking it). If that doesn't get it to fire, then you've got spark issues.
If it fires, and you have fuel to the carb, then you've got carb issues.
Those carbs can be pretty finnicky (don't ask how I know). Find an expert to help with the carb.

They had an electric solenoid on the caburetor that prevented run-on at shutdown. They needed some choke every time to start even with a hot engine on a 90 degree day. Once started they should not need any choke after they warm up. If the fuel screen was plugged, some of the smaller debris might be plugging some of the passages in the carburetor.

I had to get a new screen in the top of the carburetor. Owner has the pipe from air cleaner to carb off, only way to start it is to put your hand over the carb air inlet.. all kinds of suction. Fuel comes out the gas line to the carb, I got about a cup of gas in 10-15 seconds of cranking. It will run kinds rough and as soon as you try to Rev it up it will stall out.
