Rusty top on a gas tank

If you have access, a tank of compressed nitrogen with a regulator can be utilized to fill the tank to avoid boom. I'd still power wash the crap out of it several times with a good soap so that there is no gas smell.

I had a 1940 A that I fixed up that had the top of the gas tank rusted out. I cut it all out and bolted a big patch in like they put a hatch into an airplane.

The cost to have someone else fix the tank is probably much less than your health care deductible... don't do it yourself. It can go boom. Easily.

Just plug the bottom and fill with water up within an inch or so of the top then cut out the bad part and solder in a patch.I've resoldered the the necks on a couple of tanks and I seem to still be upright and walking.Ron
