John Deere 730

My question is from a lack of experience ,how does a 730 gas compare with a 730 diesel in the field? I have owned and operated the diesel and was impressed with its' performance using it for planting, mowing, baling and one year it did all the tillage work as I'd had surgery on my left knee. I've operated several 2 cyl gas tractors but never a 730 or 72o for that matter just curious I guess it's been a long winter. Thank you gentlemen

I own a 720 gas and 830 diesel and have owned several 730 diesels. the diesel does have move low end power, but in the winter and spreading manure with dairy cattle I would always take the 720 gas. Sold the diesels because if something broke on them it was a much bigger fix...

I own both a 730 gas and a 720 D and with good tires and weights they pull about the same. The big difference is consumption. I can do almost double the work on the diesel than I can on the gas.

If you are buying one, get a gas. They are quiet and much less expensive to work on. A person with basic mechanical skills is able to work on the gas model with minimum cost.

thank you all very good comments and information. I was always surprised by how much work I could get out of a tank of fuel on the 730 even compared to other diesels but the comments about the expense of repairing the diesels refreshed my memory ( two flywheels welded crank thrust washers etc.) and I certainly hope your right about summertime
