1953 John Deere 50

anyone know what the I.D. of the bottom radiator hose is? Deere wants like $60 for a piece of hose. Trying to cross it at NAPA but didn't have the old hose Thanks Howard

Your dealer can tell you. ..I took my old one to a truck repair shop and got a piece from them JD wanted to much money and didn't have it. Big truck engines use big hoses.

Part number is B2891R, replaced by a B77R, @ about $25, and, of coure, 2 are used.

Inside Diameter 1.875 IN
Length 4.000 IN

NOT sure if that subbed part is the correct length, or a bit too long.

So, check with your NAPA and see if the have a "stick" of 1-7/8" radiator hose at a better price and have 'em whack off a coupe of chunks!

I got a "log" of hose at NAPA for a different purpose and had to buy the 3' log at ca $25 a foot. Idea of hitting up a large truck repair facility is a good one. If there's a next time that's where I'm headed first.

I've been having the same problem with a B. It doesn't seem like anyone sells the right sizes or in custom cut lengths. Everything is sold in 3ft sticks.

I just replaced all of the hoses on my 50. The local auto part store cut them to the exact length. They sell it by the inch. I "think" that same hose also fits the air cleaner. They also made a new lower water pipe out of exhaust tubing for me. I can't remember what the hoses cost, but the water pipe was $14. They had to expand the ends a little to make it match the cast parts.
