John Deere A

Hello

I'm looking to trade a fellow for a John Deere a. Can anybody tell me the average value? Also, anything in particular about what to look for or things that are more sought after?

It's a 1950 A tractor, no lift. Electric 12v start

About 3-4 years ago I paid $1300 for a 1950 A that starts really great, has only decent tires, has the powr-trol and a JD trip bucket loader that is pretty much junk but I have used it to push snow (it has a 7' blade on it) several times and it works great after you get used to not having live hydraulics and no power steering!
I think I got a pretty good deal.

Creeper is desirable, and was on nearly all "Late Styled" JD A's
)
Just be aware that knocking near the crankshaft can be a loose flywheel(or worn splines holding it) or..loose Clutch-driver (could be worn splines there also..

Both are very serious signs of attention needed..

Common A, have a nice 1950 A would like 1300 for. Almost new rears not matched nice sheet metal, water pump no takers here in western Wisconsin.

Then you have Power Troll with the remote hydrolics, The power lift was just rockshaft for cultivators that had their own depth control. And NO A tractors ever had from new anything except drawbar.

all model As 1950 and up serial #640246 had creeper gear from the factory this was a 1&1/2 mile per hour gear was the only gears that they made for that tractor
