John Deere Green paint code

I know this has been discussed before but what is everybody's process when using PPG paint on a John Deere. We are doing a complete nut and bolt restoration on an Unstyled B and don't want to use the John Deere paint as it ALWAYS seems to fade rather quickly no matter what we do. What are you using for the primer, the green and yellow, and clear coat? and what PPG code numbers? Thanks for your replies in advanced!

All I can say is that I used JD 'rattle cans' on my unit 10 years ago and it has not faded or changed color since then. The 'new' paint still matches the areas that were not painted. The 'antique series. HTH

I have the same problems with using John Deere paint. No matter what I do it always fades in 6-12 months. I have tried different primers, hardeners, and clear coats.... I need a better quality paint!

Dupont Nason. It is a 2k paint so it dries fast and as soon as you are done with one coat you start another. You also have to do a clear coat which is really no big deal.
If you are a subscriber to Green Magazine see the article I did on the process in the May 2017 issue. It is written from an amateur's perspective, me. If you read that and then want the paint and primer numbers let me know.

I use the classic Green from my dealer on my 50 20 years ago and the tractors still look good with just some fading taking place in the last year. The other tractors I painted in the pass 3 to 12 years look very good no fading. Now my tractors are shedding when not in use. ...I am sticking to Classic Green from the dealer.
