JD 60 Three Point Lever - Left or Right Side?

My JD 60 has the three point lever on the right side of the seat. My 50 has it on the left. When plowing snow with a box scraper and my 50, I got used to running the throttle with my right arm and the three point with my left - steering with whatever arm was free at the time. My neighbor's JD 60 has the lever on the right hand side. Which is normal? My right arm has too much to do.
My 60 is an early model and his is a late model. Did they change sides? Today I bought another lever from a junk yard. I am going to try to mount it on the left and will end up having a lever on both sides. What do you think?

I push snow with my 70, I took the power trol lever off the flywheel side and put it on the pulley side, I run the clutch and lift with my right and steer with my left hand. Seems more natural to me as I grew up with a 4430 and 4640. In my opinion there is no right or wrong, it?s whatever is easy or comfortable to you. Then again, The correct police would hate me if they saw the way I do things!

On my 1953 JD 60 I pulled a JD 30 combine and moved it to the left. I also had a Ford 601 corn picker and I moved it to the right. When I have my JD 45 loader on it I have it on the left side. Worked well for me in my situations.

Those tractors were made to be set up with the power-trol lever on either side. They have a 2 piece lever and shaft to make it easy to change. The A&B could have the lever taken out of the power-trol and reversed but it wasn't a quick switch.

Agree with [b:654c4848f0]ben70b[/b:654c4848f0]'s statement of whatever [i:654c4848f0]seems more natural and is easy or comfortable to you[/i:654c4848f0].

If anybody questions your rationale for the extra lever, then tell them that you are ambidextrous.

For a while had a lever on both sides till realizing I always tended to use the right side lever so took left lever off both tractors.

My '53 - 60 has the lever on the right side, but the shaft sticks out on the left side too (with the slot and all). Could be mounted/changed easily. Just sayin'. ;^)

I set up my 70 diesel with two levers many years ago. Found it was very usefull that way. Ran it for nine years and the hired help liked it also.

Thanks for the responses. I added a left hand smoke shifter. Now I can run the three point with either arm, depending which way I am looking back.
