JD 70 White/Blue smoke

I have a 1956 JD 70 Gas that always gives off a puff of white/blue smoke when you start it cold. There's more white than blue. It runs and starts great and has good power, anybody have any ideas on what's causing it? It doesn't do it once it's running just at start up.

possible water or antifreeze in cylinder. can you smell antifreeze? I think white is water and blue maybe oil.

Blue is oil, white is usually moisture or antifreeze. Too much gas in the cylinders can also cause a little bit of a white mist. First thing I would check is for bubbles in the radiator while the tractor is running. Pull the radiator cap off, start the tractor and let it warm up a little, then see if there's any bubbles in the radiator. You can also open and close the throttle quickly a few times while looking in the radiator.

Hope this helps.

It's normal for a little of both the engine does not have valve seals so a little oil is a given. Moisture is a fact of life thus also a given especially in an exhaust system.
